Fall 2017 Sweetie Class

We Have New Sisters!

On September 16, 2017 we welcomed 35 new Sweeties into our organization. These women went through an extensive recruitment process consisting of group and individual interviews. The officer board then hand selected 35 women that they felt would represent the North Texas Sweethearts in a positive light.
We were so excited to welcome them with open arms at Sweetchella this year! All Sweethearts were decked out in glitter and paint to get the Sweeties excited. Later there was a dinner to welcome all the new Sweeties and all the girls were able to talk and get to know one another.
We are excited to watch our organization continue to grow and we cannot wait to see what these Sweeties will bring! They are all so eager and thankful to be invited into this organization and we cannot wait to see them grow into North Texas Sweethearts. Congratulations again, Fall 2017 Sweeties!

Officer/Chair Retreat Fall 2017

Turner Falls, OK

On the August 25th and 26th 2017 our North Texas Sweetheart officers and their chairs took the drive up to Oklahoma to spend quality time with one another. These woman spent one night together, most chairs with their specific officer, and they learned so much about one another! The sisterhood chairs did a a wonderful job in planning various games and activities to do while at the hotel.
These woman also attended dinner together at a nearby local restraunt where they even got to celebrate a fellow sisters birthday! (Happy Birthday Alyssa S.!) Once the festivities were over they were able to head to bed to rest up for their morning adventure at Turner Falls. Everything about this retreat was very relaxed and there was no rush what so ever. They all woke up and had breakfast together and checked out of the hotel. By the time checkout was over they headed to grab lunch before embarking on their next adventure. The drive was painless and the scenery was incredible. Once arrived at the park these women went straight to see the star of the show, the waterfall! This view was truly amazing and made for great photos to take together! Once the photo shoot was over they were off to hike all around the waterfall, this was challenging for some but managleable with our sisters. To cool off from the hike most of our sisters started making their way into a shallow portion of water. The sights were amazing and the bonds made during those two days are now unbreakable.
This experince was one that these women will remember for a lifetime. These are the sisterly bonds that we talk about in our mission statement and hope to enhance our college experince. Even though this retreat may have lasted only two days, our memories will last forever. This experince was great and all of the women learned so much about one another. The purpose of this retreat was to make the bond between the officers and their chairs strong so that they can enter the year ready to lead one of the best orginizations on campus. Thanks to our sisterhood chairs and vice president this goal was achived and the officers and chairs cannot wait to begin their duties!

Letter from the 2017-18 President

Hello,

My name is Lisa Kramer and it is with great pleasure to announce that I am the President of the North Texas Sweethearts. I have been a part of this organization for the past four years and it has given me so much that I can only hope I can give back to this organization and all of it members in the same way.

When I arrived at UNT, I knew only a few people that I had met at orientation. I had moved to Texas from Los Angeles where most of my friends decided to stay close to home, I was the only one from my school who chose to come to UNT. Being involved at my high school was something I thoroughly enjoyed and I knew getting involved in college was a sure way to make friends, and make UNT my home. I met a girl at orientation and we became fast friends, we both met some of the North Texas Sweethearts at an orientation and decided that Sweethearts was where we belonged. Over the course of the summer we talked and prepared ourselves for the recruitment process and when it finally arrived we were beyond excited when we were accepted into the organization we both call home. I had no idea just how important this organization would become for me, or how many amazing people I would meet along the way. I am forever blessed to be able to call myself a North Texas Sweetheart and to know that I have the support for all the sisters that have become my family. Joining this organization was the best thing I could have done my freshman year of college and I can’t imagine not being apart of this amazing community of women who lift me up on a regular basis.

The North Texas Sweethearts are going into their sixth year here at UNT and while we are no longer a brand new organization we are still growing and learning. I am excited to be able to continue to shape this organization and continue to bring in amazing new members who only make us better and stronger. While I go into my last year here at UNT, I am beyond excited to cheer on our Mean Green, support our philanthropy, The National Brain Tumor society, give back to the Denton community, as well as welcome a new sweetie class of strong young women.

To my sisters, I would not be where I am today without the support and love that all of you have shown me over the years. I am beyond honored to be your President this upcoming year, thank you for trusting me with this responsibility and having the faith in me to honor this position well. I am excited and ready for the year in front of us and I cannot wait to see all the things we accomplish down the road, I love you all.

Sincerely Your President,

Lisa Kramer
North Texas Sweethearts President

Closing Ceremony-Spring 2017

"Once a Sweetheart, Always a Sweetheart"

As we welcome in new Sweethearts to our family, we also say goodbye to a few as well. However, it is never goodbye because these women are forever apart of the Sweetheart sisterhood. At this semesters closing ceremony our graduating seniors were awarded with stoles and cords and we also welcomed in our new officer board. Our graduating seniors may have said their goodbyes however they took an oath that night that promised they are to be Sweethearts forever. These incredible women are off to do great things in the world and we are so immensely proud of them. We look forward to seeing them during homecoming and maybe some mentorship programs as well. Congratulations Spring 2017 Graduates! And welcome to Sweetheart alumni.

Spring 2017 Initiation

On April 28, 2017, we welcomed 16 new sisters into our sisterhood. We are so proud of each of these women for they have shown such dedication, poise, and class all semester long. They have worked incredibly hard to earn the title of a North Texas Sweetheart. We are excited to see where these ladies go and how much they continue to grow with this organization. Each and every one of these women have incredible backgrounds that we are honored to have in this organization. These newly initiated Sweethearts are ready to take on the title this upcoming fall and show everyone around them what being a Sweetheart is all about. Be excited to see just how wonderful these women are as they uphold the title of a North Texas Sweetheart at every spirit, service, and social event we have. Congratulations to the Spring 2017 Sweetie Class!

Parents Weekend!

March 4th and 5th we had the opportunity to get to know some of our Sweethearts lovely parents at this years parents weekend! On Saturday, girls got to spend time with their dad's while enjoying a delicious BBQ and playing games like corn hole and ladder golf. On Sunday, our members sat down to brunch with their moms at our mother daughter tea. We played several games like "who's mother is this" and "how well do you know your daughter" which was a blast. It was great to see how happy all our sweethearts are when they get to spend some quality time with their parents. Thank you so much to the parents who came out to our events and a special thank you to the parents who helped us set up, grill, and make everything possible; we couldn't have done these events without you guys! Below shows just some of the fun we had this past weekend!
